Henri Cartier Bresson

Henri Cartier Bresson is a french photographer and film maker who focused on mostly compositions when taking his photos. He was known for his photojournalism and street photography. During 1931 he grew an interest in photography while he was in Africa on a hunting trip. However during 1935 he started to experiment with film. Then through 1966 he focused on painting and drawing.
The Decisive Moment, "the simultaneous recognition, in a fraction of a second, of the significance of an event as well as the precise organization of forms which gives that event its proper expression." This meant that there was one moment where everything to take the photo was there and it was the responsibility of the photographer to capture that moment on camera. Composition was relevant to his photographs all the time. The way he placed his camera or the way he angled the picture was always deliberate. This was to ensure that he captured what the image was really showing to the human eye. Most of his photos had sharp edges involved in his photos which made it look more intense and it gave more feel to it. I like his work because I like how his photos are taken and how they have no colours which shows more depth of the photo thats been taken. |
